Massive congratulations are in order for our Hurden Looker Elementary School Mock Trial students! Hurden Looker mock trial placed second out of 73 submissions in their most recent competition! "The triumph of sixth-grade Hillside Enrichment Program students in a mock trial is a testament to their dedication, critical thinking, and teamwork. These young minds displayed an impressive grasp of legal concepts and an ability to articulate their arguments with confidence and precision. Their success reflects not only their academic prowess but also their ability to collaborate effectively as a cohesive unit. This victory not only underscores the importance of extracurricular activities in fostering skills beyond the classroom but also serves as an inspiration to their peers and the broader community. These students have demonstrated that age is not a barrier to excellence and that with determination and effort, anything is achievable. Their achievement in the mock trial serves as a reminder of the potential within every young person and the value of providing opportunities for them to showcase their talents!"
Great work, Hurden Looker!

Hurden Looker Elementary School's 4th grade students competed in the World Wide Math Academics Cup Competition! Over 250 schools and over 8000 students participated in this competition. Hurden Looker went as high as 6th place by the end of the school day but was knocked back to 11th place by the evening (Some schools continued to play after hours). On January 13, 2023, during the Hillside Public School District's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of celebration, A Day of Service Drive was occurring in the Hillside High School cafeteria! Students from Hillside Innovation Academy, W.O.K. Middle School, and Hillside High School assembled to sort items and build care packages. The entire Hillside community supported this initiative. All schools in our district, the Hillside Education Association, and the AT&T pioneers generously donated socks, scarves, hats, gloves, combs, and brushes to create care packages for the homeless! On January 24, 2024, Hillside High School students will partner with Berniece's Place to hand out care packages at the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless Annual Service Fair. This event was organized by Superintendent Glover, Ms. Harris, Ms. Powell, Vice-Principals Rosalind Bartholomew and Obinna Emenaka, and the A.P. African American Studies class.
