Hillside Innovation Academy's three-day New Scholar Orientation, held on August 5 through August 7th, was an engaging and comprehensive program led by school counselor Ms. Vazquez, School Counselor, Ms. Dotel, World Language teacher, Mr. Joyner, ELA teacher, Ms. Therres, Visual Art teacher and Dr. Silva, HIA Principal.
The sessions focused on HIAs core values, the mission and vision statement, academic expectations, SEL supports, study tips, time management and goal setting, all designed to prepare scholars for the upcoming school year. The orientation concluded with a spirited school activity where students created cheers, dances, or displays to showcase their learning over the past 3 days. Special thanks to our HIA Scholar Ambassadors David, Ester, Alyssa, and Emily for co-facilitating and preparing materials for the sessions each day. Our new scholars are ready to go, and we look forward to receiving them in September.
